Role Overview
As Deputy Sales & Marketing Manager, you will act as the operational backbone of the sales function for an LPG cylinder manufacturing and revalidation business, turning the division's commercial strategy into daily execution. You will own the rhythm of the sales floor — pipeline movement, order flow, pricing coordination, and account health — while standing in for the Head of Sales & Marketing on strategy, reporting, and team matters as required. This role matters because revenue depends on tight coordination between the sales team, production scheduling, and supply chain; your ability to keep those moving parts aligned directly protects delivery promises and customer trust.
Key Responsibilities
- Translate the division's sales strategy into workable plans, targets, and activity schedules, and drive the team to hit or exceed agreed revenue goals.
- Own day-to-day sales operations, including order processing, pricing coordination, contract administration, and escalation of fulfilment issues with production and supply chain colleagues.
- Manage and grow relationships with major accounts, distributors, and strategic partners, resolving service concerns quickly and keeping satisfaction levels high.
- Hunt for new business: build and maintain a healthy pipeline of prospective customers and projects, and convert opportunities that widen market share.
- Produce budgets, forecasts, and performance reports with reliable data, giving the Head of Sales & Marketing the insight needed for commercial decisions.
- Track sales KPIs and weekly debtor positions, follow up on outstanding payments, and recommend corrective action where performance or cash collection slips.
- Coach, mentor, and develop the sales team — spotting capability gaps, arranging training, and setting expectations that lift overall performance.
- Monitor competitors, regulatory shifts, and market trends affecting the LPG cylinder sector, and run research or surveys that feed strategic planning; issue tenders on time with divisional head support.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Sales, or a closely related discipline; a Master's degree or a recognised professional sales/marketing qualification is a plus.
- Five to seven years of progressive sales and marketing experience, including at least two to three years in a supervisory or managerial capacity.
- Hands-on background in a manufacturing setting, ideally LPG, industrial gases, pressure vessels, or comparable energy and industrial product lines.
- Documented history of meeting or surpassing sales targets and expanding market share.
- Proven leadership and coaching ability, with the credibility to develop a team and hold it accountable.
- Strong negotiation and relationship management skills, plus the commercial judgement to handle contracts and key accounts under senior guidance.
- Analytical capability in forecasting, budgeting, and KPI tracking, supported by solid market research and competitive intelligence instincts.
- Comfortable working cross-functionally with production and supply chain teams, and confident communicating and presenting to internal and external audiences.
- Proficient in MS Office, particularly Excel, and CRM platforms; familiarity with sales performance tools is advantageous.
- Integrity, resilience, and a results-driven mindset, with the self-motivation to operate effectively under limited supervision.
What We Offer / Why Join
- A genuinely hands-on leadership role where strategic input and daily execution carry equal weight — you will see the direct commercial impact of your decisions.
- Close working partnership with the Head of Sales & Marketing, giving you visibility into divisional strategy and a clear pathway to broader responsibility.
- Exposure to the full commercial cycle across manufacturing, supply chain, and customer-facing functions in a dynamic industrial environment.
- A collaborative, customer-focused culture that values proactive thinking and adaptability.
