Job Purpose
- To provide diagnostic, curative, preventive and rehabilitative dental services.
Duties and responsibilities
Reporting to the Head of Dental Unit, the position holder will be responsible for the following:
- Managing patients with dental conditions by diagnosing, investigating, treating and documenting.
- Undertaking complicated dental procedures.
- Carrying out dental examinations, age assessment and writing dental reports.
- Performing specific dental care procedures in Restorative Dentistry, Prosthodontics, Paediatric Dentistry, Orthodontics, Periodontology, minor oral surgeries and special care dentistry.
- Collecting, updating and maintaining dental health information system.
- Writing discharge summaries and follow-up of patients.
- Diagnosing, investigating, treating patients, and assisting in theatre activities.
- Conducting oral health education.
- Providing formal and informal training and supervising other health workers in the unit such as Dental Technologists and Dental Assistants.
- Disseminating information for dentistry planning.
- Organizing and participating in community sensitization and outreach programs on dental health care.
- Any other duty as may be assigned.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) degree or any other equivalent qualification from an institution recognized by the Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board.
- Registration with the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC).
- Retention in the KMPDC register.
- Valid Practice License from KMPDC.
- Valid Indemnity Cover.
- Proficiency in computer applications.
- Compliance with Chapter Six (6) of the Constitution of Kenya, 2010.
