Role Overview
This position sits at the heart of a 24/7 operations centre, where the person in the chair is the first line of awareness for everything happening across monitored systems and field activity. Day to day, you will watch live tracking platforms and operational feeds, decide quickly whether what you are seeing is routine or a genuine incident, and push clear, well-judged alerts to the people who need to act on them. Because clients and stakeholders depend on the centre for fast, accurate and confidential information, your judgement and consistency directly shape how well the wider operation responds to events as they unfold.
Key Responsibilities
- Keep continuous watch over operational and tracking systems, distinguish genuine incidents or emerging risks from background activity, and draft timely, precise alerts for escalation to the appropriate level.
- Gather, process and interpret current information from multiple sources to build the daily operational reports and situation updates issued by the centre.
- Carry out routine daily checks across tracking platforms and other electronic systems used by the Operations Centre, confirming each is working and reporting anything that is not.
- Record, update and verify operational data in Excel workbooks, databases and internal systems, following established procedures so records remain complete and reliable.
- Answer incoming calls and client enquiries in a professional manner, taking down accurate details and routing requests to the correct colleague or department.
- Support round-the-clock client operations by passing incidents, information requests and status updates to relevant authorities and stakeholders without delay.
- Protect the confidentiality of client and operational information at all times, and take on additional tasks as needed to keep the Operations Centre running smoothly.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or diploma in computer studies or a closely related discipline.
- Confident, hands-on use of Microsoft Excel and Word, plus the wider Microsoft Office suite.
- Strong written and spoken communication in both English and Kiswahili; working knowledge of Somali, French or Arabic would be a distinct advantage.
- Solid analytical and problem-solving ability, with the kind of close attention to detail that lets you judge the accuracy and relevance of information under time pressure.
- Demonstrated discretion and integrity when handling confidential material, and a professional manner in all dealings with clients and colleagues.
- Willingness and availability to work rotating shifts within a 24/7 operating environment.
