- Pursue overdue accounts using a mix of phone calls, emails, reminder letters, and face-to-face conversations.
- Flag accounts showing signs of default and work with legal colleagues to issue formal demands or start recovery proceedings.
- Assess the creditworthiness of prospective and current clients by reviewing financial statements, bank references, and credit bureau reports.
- Determine suitable credit ceilings, repayment schedules, and deposit amounts for each client, and keep all credit files, contracts, and financial records accurate and current.
- Look into and settle billing errors, statement questions, or payment disagreements from clients.
- Work alongside sales colleagues to vet credit arrangements for new property transactions and ensure they align with company credit policy; team up with finance to reconcile client accounts.
- Prepare weekly and monthly aging reports for senior leaders that show collection progress and highlight debt risks, and review existing credit control procedures to suggest efficiency improvements while ensuring compliance with internal financial policies and Kenyan debt recovery laws.
