Coverage Analyst (East Africa) (National TDB Volunteer)

Role Overview

This position sits within the East Africa coverage team and exists to keep the deal flow moving from first client conversation to final disbursement. You will be the analytical backbone for Coverage Officers, preparing financial models, researching markets and clients, maintaining pipeline dashboards, and coordinating the operational steps that turn opportunities into approved transactions. The work directly strengthens TDB Group's ability to serve clients across the region, grow its loan and investment portfolio, and generate sustainable revenue while staying aligned with the bank's development mission.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the day-to-day administrative and technical tasks that keep the East Africa coverage team responsive, organised, and ready to act on new opportunities.
• Support the full transaction lifecycle by working alongside lending operations, preparing investment documents, and helping move deals through screening, due diligence, appraisal, and approval.
• Build and maintain robust valuation and debt capacity models, including discounted cash flow (DCF) and scenario analysis, to inform credit and investment decisions.
• Screen early-stage projects for financial viability, potential risks, and alignment with development impact goals before they progress to deeper analysis.
• Analyse company financial statements, business models, and industry conditions to surface client needs and design tailored solutions with Coverage Officers.
• Create high-quality presentation decks, memoranda, proposals, and client-facing materials using Microsoft tools, turning raw data into clear visuals and narratives.
• Act as a reliable point of contact for clients and internal stakeholders, coordinating information requests and ensuring the bank receives what it needs on time.
• Maintain transaction records, knowledge management resources, and lessons-learned databases in line with internal policies, and support operational projects within the department.

Requirements & Qualifications

• A bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field; professional certifications such as ACCA, CPA, or CFA are a distinct advantage.
• At least five years of relevant experience in lending, investments, debt, or equity, with exposure to transaction processing and client coverage activities.
• Strong command of accounting and corporate finance concepts, with hands-on proficiency in financial modelling, DCF valuation, and comparative financial statement analysis.
• Ability to research markets and industries independently, assess competitive conditions, identify gaps, and distil large volumes of information into actionable insights.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the capacity to present logic clearly and concisely to varied audiences.
• Proven attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, meet tight deadlines, and perform reliably under pressure with minimal supervision.
• Strong interpersonal skills and a service-oriented mindset, including the ability to listen actively, understand client needs, and collaborate effectively across multicultural teams.

• Fluency in English is required; working knowledge of French or Portuguese is an added advantage.
