Role Overview
This role supports the development and delivery of marketing and communications activity for Aga Khan School, Mombasa, turning school events, programmes, and achievements into clear, engaging content for families, prospective parents, and the wider community. You will work closely with the Line Manager, colleagues across the three sections, Aga Khan Academy Mombasa, and Central Office to plan campaigns, coordinate high-profile events, and keep all public-facing communication consistent with the school’s brand. Your work directly affects how the school is perceived in Mombasa and how effectively it engages its target audiences.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver public-facing marketing initiatives in consultation with the Line Manager, making sure each activity supports the school’s wider communications goals.
- Coordinate the annual calendar of open days and careers days across the three sections, including planning, promotion, logistics, and on-the-day marketing.
- Promote and support school-hosted events such as sports and swimming galas, working with Aga Khan School, Mombasa and, when needed, Aga Khan Academy Mombasa.
- Capture photography and videography at key school events and, occasionally, at external venues, and maintain an organised database or repository for these assets.
- Help keep the school’s website section for Aga Khan School, Mombasa accurate, current, and aligned with the school’s brand.
- Ensure events are properly branded and review public-facing materials such as letters, certificates, and trophies to confirm they have been approved by the Line Manager.
- Advise colleagues on branding, communications, and publication needs for events and programmes, and help create guidance for initiatives such as Mental Health and Water, Sanitation & Hygiene.
- Support Central Office with media events, invitations, and updates in Mombasa, and ensure data protection measures are followed strictly at all events.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communication, or Digital Media.
- At least two years of relevant work experience.
- Experience in a school environment is an added advantage.
- Adobe Suite certification or proven practical experience with Adobe creative tools.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to adapt messaging for different audiences.
- Practical ability in content creation, social media management, event promotion, and campaign performance analysis.
- Photography and videography skills, including basic editing and asset organisation.
- Understanding of brand consistency and data protection when handling event and audience information.
