Job Description

Role Overview

This is a hands-on carpentry position covering the full range of trade work, from rough framing and structural modifications through finished cabinetry, trim, and furniture installation. Working under the direction of the LCC Project Manager, the Carpenter translates blueprints, specifications, drawings, or verbal instructions into safe, code-compliant results across a large facility — including occupied and operational spaces where disruptions carry real cost. Success in this role depends as much on planning, estimating, and clear reporting as it does on tool skill, since the person in the seat is expected to keep projects on schedule, keep the workplace safe, and produce accurate records that support environmental health, safety, and quality requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and lay out assignments from blueprints, drawings, models, or verbal direction, performing the shop math needed to confirm dimensions, angles, and material quantities before work begins.
  • Select the correct materials and supplies for each job, matching the material to the application, environment, and finish requirements.
  • Build, remodel, retrofit, and repair structures using wood, drywall, plaster, concrete, brick, and other materials as the scope demands.
  • Fabricate and install cabinetry, tables, shelving, benches, partitions, flooring, doors, and windows, and build or repair other furniture; may also install and service modular furniture systems.
  • Produce assessments of cost, labour time, and material needs for carpentry projects, and submit detailed written project reports to the LCC Project Manager.
  • Maintain daily service order records and other routine reporting, and keep tools and equipment properly stored, inspected, and maintained, including site clean-up.
  • Treat safety as the top priority on every task, follow all Environmental Health & Safety and Quality Assurance requirements, and supply EHS and QA with the information and documentation they need to meet legal and audit standards.
  • May supervise subcontractors to confirm work meets state and federal code requirements, and may train or direct the work of other staff in the area; other duties and projects may be assigned as needed.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • A minimum of five (5) years' experience working as a Carpenter.
  • A state license or certification from your home state, or an equivalent combination of verifiable education and experience in the trade.
  • Working knowledge of the principles and processes that underpin carpentry operations, including how they apply in an overseas facility setting.
  • Comfort operating in a fast-paced environment where several tasks may demand attention at once, and the ability to shift quickly when priorities or schedules change.
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the discipline to keep schedules, records, and job sites in order.
  • A track record of delivering strong customer service to internal stakeholders and facility users.
  • Cross-cultural awareness, with a working understanding of social behaviours and expectations in international settings.
  • Basic computer proficiency, specifically Microsoft Word and Excel, for reporting and documentation.
  • Well-developed communication skills, both written and verbal, sufficient to gather and pass along information clearly and accurately.
  • The ability to work as a contributing member of a team and to bring initiative and a willingness to drive change.

What We Offer / Why Join

  • A role with real breadth: rough and finish carpentry, fabrication, estimating, and reporting in one position, rather than a narrow slice of the trade.
  • An overseas assignment that puts you in direct contact with a cross-cultural workforce and international working practices.
  • An environment where safety, environmental compliance, and quality assurance are treated as core requirements rather than afterthoughts, with the documentation and reporting support to match.
  • Opportunity to take on added responsibility, including oversight of subcontractor work and training or directing other staff.
