Role Overview
CIO Africa Ltd is hiring a Business Development Executive to grow its events and production business by winning new corporate clients and securing fresh projects. Day to day, you will be on the front foot — approaching organisations cold, sitting down with decision-makers, shaping solutions with the production team, and pushing proposals through to signature. Your work directly expands the client base that keeps CIO Africa's events, studio, AV and livestreaming services in demand.
Key Responsibilities
- Prospect and win new business across corporates, agencies, NGOs and other organisations that need event and production support.
- Identify, contact and build working relationships with key decision-makers, converting leads into paying clients.
- Sell the full range of CIO Africa's services, including events, production, studio hire, AV, livestreaming and technical support.
- Meet clients in person to understand their objectives, then collaborate with internal teams to design the right solution.
- Draft proposals and quotations, present them, and follow each opportunity through until the deal is closed.
- Nurture existing accounts to generate repeat business and uncover new project opportunities within them.
- Keep a healthy, well-organised sales pipeline and manage your activity against agreed sales targets.
- Report on progress, client feedback and market opportunities to support the wider commercial plan.
Requirements & Qualifications
- 2–3 years of experience in sales, business development, client acquisition or account management.
- Background in events, production, media, advertising, hospitality or experiential marketing is a distinct advantage.
- Demonstrated ability to prospect for new business, pitch, negotiate and close deals.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills, both with clients and internal teams.
- Confidence and credibility when dealing with corporate clients and senior decision-makers.
- Reliable follow-up discipline, self-direction and a track record of meeting targets.
- A Diploma or Degree in Business, Marketing, Sales, Events, Hospitality or a related field is preferred.
What We Offer / Why Join
- The chance to sell a varied portfolio — events, studio, AV, livestreaming and technical production — rather than a single product line.
- Direct contact with senior technology professionals and decision-makers across Africa's corporate and institutional landscape.
- Backing from CIO Africa's established position as a technology content and insights platform, with a publication, online portal and high-impact industry events.
- Compensation of KES 40,000 net.
