Role Overview
This secretarial role provides day-to-day administrative and document-processing support, helping an office communicate clearly and keep routine work organised. The position requires formal secretarial training, strong English and Kiswahili foundations, and practical competence in typing, shorthand, and office procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Type and format correspondence, reports, and other office documents using appropriate document-processing tools.
- Take shorthand notes and prepare accurate typed versions of dictated or recorded material.
- Support routine communication and correspondence in English and Kiswahili.
- Apply established office practices when handling administrative tasks and documentation.
- Carry out secretarial duties and assist with the smooth organisation of office work.
- Use computer applications to prepare, update, and manage documents.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) with a mean grade of C- (minus), including at least C (plain) in English and Kiswahili, or an equivalent qualification from a recognised institution.
- A Diploma in Secretarial Studies awarded by the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC); or Business Education Single and Group Certificates (BES & GC) from KNEC, covering the subjects listed below.
- For the BES & GC route: Typewriting III at 50 words per minute or Computerised Document Processing III; Shorthand II at 80 words per minute; Business English II or Communication I; Office Practice II; Secretarial Duties II; Commerce II; and Office Management III or Office Administration and Management III.
- A certificate in computer applications from a recognised institution.
