Assistant Housekeeper

Role Overview

As Assistant Housekeeper at Severin Sea Lodge in Mombasa, you will coordinate daily room, public-area and laundry operations, working closely with the Executive Housekeeper and leading the relevant supervisors. Your inspections and follow-through help ensure guests arrive to clean, well-presented spaces and that the resort’s standards are maintained throughout their stay.

Key Responsibilities

• Inspect arrival, occupied, VIP and departure rooms, including evening turndown, and coordinate timely room release with Front Office.
• Oversee housekeeping supervisors and teams responsible for guest rooms, public areas and laundry, keeping service and presentation standards consistent.
• Maintain the appearance of the lobby, paths, public washrooms, pool, restaurants and Imani Dhow throughout the day.
• Manage house linen, guest-laundry service and staff uniforms to support reliable turnaround and a professional appearance.
• Identify room and public-area maintenance issues, report them promptly and follow up with Engineering until they are resolved.
• Monitor housekeeping supplies, guest amenities and cleaning chemicals, ensuring stock is available and items are stored and handled appropriately.
• Brief and coach staff on guest service, hygiene, security and appropriate conduct, including the requirement to avoid personal phone use in guest areas.
• Prepare duty rosters in line with occupancy, balancing coverage on busy days with productive use of the team during quieter periods.

Requirements & Qualifications

• At least three years of hotel housekeeping experience, including supervisory responsibility for room attendants, public areas or laundry.
• Practical experience inspecting guest rooms and confirming they are ready for Front Office release.
• Confidence leading an on-the-floor shift and working early starts, weekends and public holidays.
• Clear spoken English for staff briefings and coordination with Front Office.
• Legal authorization to work in Kenya.
