Assistant Accountant

Role Overview

As an Assistant Accountant, you will help keep the finance operations of an electromechanical and MEP contracting business accurate and up to date. Your work will cover routine transaction processing, project-related supplier documentation, reconciliations and VAT support, helping the Senior Accountant maintain reliable records and complete monthly close activities.

Key Responsibilities

• Record day-to-day accounting transactions and maintain clear, accurate financial records.
• Process invoices from suppliers and subcontractors, and prepare the related payment vouchers.
• Compile supplier payment schedules and prepare cheques or bank transfer requests for review and processing.
• Check purchase orders, local purchase orders, delivery notes and invoices against one another before processing.
• Reconcile bank accounts, track petty cash and investigate discrepancies.
• Support journal entries, monthly reporting and month-end close tasks.
• Review tax invoices and assemble UAE VAT calculations and supporting documentation.
• Keep accounting records and supporting paperwork organised, and assist with other finance duties assigned by the Senior Accountant.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Commerce.
• Two to four years of accounting experience; experience in MEP contracting is preferred.
• Working knowledge of project accounting and construction-related transactions, including supplier and subcontractor costs.
• Understanding of UAE VAT documentation and tax invoice checks.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software such as Tally.
• Strong reconciliation and analytical skills, with clear communication and careful attention to financial detail.
