Role Overview
This is a field-driven commercial role with a manufacturer and supplier of tractor-drawn trailers, bowsers and allied agricultural implements. You will spend your time on farms, at dealerships and with agricultural contractors, turning conversations about land, livestock, haulage and water needs into confirmed equipment orders. Your work sits directly on the revenue line: without a consistent pipeline of enquiries and closed deals, the production floor has nothing to build, so the employer depends on your ability to read a farming operation accurately and match it to the right machine.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and manage a territory of prospects across commercial farms, agribusinesses, agricultural contractors, cooperatives and equipment dealers, converting them into repeat buyers.
- Carry out on-site assessments of customer operations — tractor size and hitch configuration, load types, terrain, haulage distances and water requirements — and translate those findings into a recommended equipment specification.
- Price and present quotations for both catalogue models and bespoke builds, then negotiate commercial terms through to a signed order.
- Act as the link between the customer and the design, engineering and production teams, relaying technical requirements clearly so that fabricated units meet the agreed specification the first time.
- Maintain a live sales pipeline, forecast order volumes and report progress against agreed targets to management.
- See each sale through to completion by coordinating delivery schedules, confirming the machine arrives as specified and resolving any snags quickly.
- Stay in contact with buyers after handover to secure repeat business, referrals and feedback that informs future product improvements.
- Keep abreast of competitor offerings, pricing movements and evolving implement technology in the agricultural sector, and feed that intelligence back into the sales approach.
Requirements & Qualifications
- A proven, results-bearing record in agricultural machinery sales, with hands-on exposure to tractor-drawn equipment — trailers and bowsers in particular.
- Working technical knowledge of tractor compatibility, implement applications, load ratings and the practical realities of day-to-day farm operations.
- Confidence selling both standard catalogue units and custom-engineered implements built to a customer's unique specification.
- Documented sales achievements and an existing network of agricultural customers, contractors or dealers that can be activated quickly.
- An engineering, agricultural or technical qualification relevant to machinery and implements.
- Strong negotiation and closing skills, comfortable discussing technical detail with an engineer and commercial terms with a farm owner in the same day.
- A self-managed approach to travel and territory coverage, with a valid driving licence.
Why Join
- Represent a manufacturer rather than a reseller, meaning you can shape the product directly by feeding customer requirements back into the build.
- Sell into a market with genuine, repeat demand for haulage and water-carting equipment.
- Work across both off-the-shelf and custom projects, keeping the role technically varied rather than purely transactional.
