Job Description

Role Overview

This position centres on protecting the company’s cash flow while making sure customers can buy on credit without unnecessary friction. Day to day, you will review credit applications, chase overdue invoices, negotiate repayment plans, and release orders once payments are confirmed. You will also act as the bridge between sales, finance, and customers, ensuring credit decisions are practical, consistent, and aligned with the company’s growth targets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Run credit checks on new and existing customers, then set or adjust credit limits based on payment behaviour, financial standing, and business needs.
  • Monitor the accounts receivable ageing report daily, prioritise follow-up actions, and chase outstanding balances through calls, emails, and formal notices.
  • Approve or hold customer orders according to credit policy, and release orders promptly once payments are received or terms are agreed.
  • Negotiate realistic payment plans with customers who fall behind, escalate difficult accounts to management or legal when needed, and keep clear records of every recovery step.
  • Develop and update credit policies, collection procedures, and internal controls, making sure they remain practical as the business evolves.
  • Prepare weekly or monthly reports on receivables, collections, cash flow forecasts, and key performance indicators such as days sales outstanding.
  • Support new customer onboarding by verifying details, establishing initial credit terms, and resolving billing disputes quickly to maintain strong relationships.
  • Identify credit risks early, recommend mitigation measures, ensure compliance with relevant regulations, and collaborate with sales, finance, and legal teams on difficult cases.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
  • Three to five years of hands-on experience in credit control, accounts receivable, or debt management, ideally within healthcare, medical devices, or medical equipment sales.
  • Fluent written and spoken communication in English, Gujarati, Hindi, and Swahili, since you will deal with customers and internal teams across those language groups.
  • A professional qualification in credit management (for example, from a recognised credit or finance body) is an advantage.
  • Strong proficiency with accounting software, spreadsheets, and ERP systems used for invoicing and collections.
  • Solid negotiation skills, attention to detail, and the ability to handle pressure when chasing overdue debts without damaging customer trust.
