Accounts Payable Accountant

Role Overview

The Accounts Payable Accountant will manage day-to-day supplier transactions for an electromechanical and engineering services business in Dubai, from checking invoices to arranging payments. Accurate records, timely settlement of approved invoices and careful application of UAE VAT requirements will help the finance team maintain reliable accounts and support closing and audit work.

Key Responsibilities

• Check supplier invoices against purchase orders and delivery documentation, and confirm that the supporting details are complete.
• Prepare payment vouchers and organise approved payments using bank transfers, cheques or online banking.
• Track invoice due dates and coordinate payment processing to meet agreed timelines.
• Reconcile supplier statements with accounts payable records and investigate differences.
• Follow up on invoice errors or missing documentation and work with relevant parties to resolve them.
• Keep payment records and supporting financial documents accurate and organised.
• Assist with month-end close activities and provide documentation needed for audits.
• Apply UAE VAT requirements and the company’s accounting procedures when processing transactions.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline.
• At least two years of accounts payable experience gained in the UAE.
• Working knowledge of supplier invoice processing, reconciliations and payment administration.
• Familiarity with UAE VAT rules and standard accounting procedures.
• Experience using Tally or a comparable accounting or ERP system.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other MS Office applications.
• Must currently live in the UAE and be available to join immediately.
