Primary Mandate
We are looking for a rigorous and analytical Accounts Assistant to maintain the financial accuracy of our property portfolio. In this capacity, you will serve as the primary controller of tenant ledgers, ensuring every payment is captured, verified, and correctly allocated. Your focus will be on maintaining a healthy cash flow through diligent arrears management and airtight reconciliations. By bridging the gap between tenant communication and technical accounting, you will ensure that financial records are transparent, compliant, and consistently up to date.
Functional Responsibilities
Revenue Management & Ledger Accuracy

Accurately post and allocate tenant payments within the property management system using specific unit identifiers.

Maintain clean tenant ledgers by investigating and resolving payment discrepancies or unapplied receipts.

Onboard new tenants with complete financial documentation and manage the close-out process for exiting residents.

Monitor outstanding balances and communicate professionally with tenants to facilitate prompt rent recovery.
Financial Controls & Reconciliations

Execute daily bank and M-PESA reconciliations to ensure all digital and mobile transactions are captured.

Identify and investigate reconciliation variances, providing swift resolutions to maintain data integrity.

Adhere to internal financial controls and standard accounting procedures to safeguard company assets.

Support the month-end and year-end closing cycles through meticulous record management.
Reporting & Stakeholder Engagement

Generate periodic rent schedules, arrears reports, and management summaries for property leads.

Provide clear, professional interpretations of statements to both landlords and tenants as required.

Manage a structured filing system for both physical and digital financial documentation.

Collaborate with the property management team to streamline operational workflows and resolve finance-related queries.
Professional Standards
The Essentials

Education: Diploma or Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.

Domain Expertise: 2–4 years of experience in a finance role, with a heavy preference for Real Estate or Property Management backgrounds.

Technical Skills: Proficiency in specialized accounting systems and advanced Microsoft Excel.

Certification: Progress toward CPA (K) is considered a distinct advantage.
