Job Summary

This role is responsible for assisting in the effective day-to-day operations of the Finance Department. The Accountant will support financial reporting and financial processes while gaining practical experience and developing professional skills.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate accounting records for company and fund operations, including updating trial balances, posting transactions, journals, expenses, income, and provisions.
• Prepare and reconcile bank accounts, custody valuations, investment fund ledgers, receivables, payables, and other balance sheet accounts.
• Manage tax-related processes, including withholding tax postings, computations, filings, and maintenance of supporting schedules.
• Prepare client fee notes, monitor collections, maintain income schedules, and support revenue accounting processes.
• Coordinate supplier invoice processing, payment preparation, online payment processing, and petty cash management.
• Prepare weekly cash position reports and support treasury and liquidity management activities.
• Support payroll-related activities, including submission of non-statutory deductions.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, professional development, and departmental projects.

Qualifications, Experience and Competencies

• A Bachelor’s degree in a business-related field.
• Completed the Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (CPAK) examination or an equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
• Minimum 2 years’ relevant work experience in a similar position is desirable.
• Good working knowledge of accounting software and willingness to learn new systems.
• High level of accuracy with strong attention to detail.
• Strong numerical aptitude and analytical skills.
• Foundational understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting standards.
• Basic knowledge of regulatory frameworks and compliance requirements.
• High ethical standards and personal integrity.
• Good organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well in a team environment.
• Good oral and written communication skills.
• An enthusiastic, self-motivated individual who is eager to learn, grow, and develop a career in finance and accounting.
