Job Description

Role Overview

In this client management role, you will look after a portfolio of corporate health insurance clients and their intermediaries, guiding them through service needs, renewals, and product decisions. Your work will help strengthen client relationships, retain and grow profitable business, and ensure schemes are implemented effectively across African markets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build trusted relationships with clients and intermediaries, understand their priorities, and represent the insurer professionally.
  • Create and deliver account plans, client reports, renewal proposals, and product recommendations that support retention and sustainable growth.
  • Work with Underwriting and relevant teams to shape renewal terms and product proposals that meet client needs while maintaining profitability.
  • Identify opportunities to extend existing client relationships through suitable additional products, and present recommendations to clients and intermediaries.
  • Coordinate with Customer Services, Healthcare Services, Legal Services, and Marketing to resolve service concerns and produce clear, high-quality client materials.
  • Oversee contractual commitments, invoices, deliverable standards, forecasts, client references, testimonials, and required management information.
  • Share client and market feedback to inform product development, and coordinate renewal implementation so schemes are set up appropriately.
  • Investigate complex claims-related and client issues, recommend practical resolutions, and manage several priorities independently.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • At least five years of client management experience in health insurance; experience in an international organisation is preferred.
  • Experience working with insurers or insurance policies in African markets.
  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Marketing or Business.
  • Strong written and spoken English, with the ability to explain complex topics clearly and concisely.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a client portfolio, renewals, cross-selling, forecasts, and profitability.
  • Experience preparing proposals and reports and overseeing invoicing and contractual deliverables.
  • Strong stakeholder management, negotiation, influencing, listening, and conflict-resolution skills, along with confident presentation and public-speaking ability.
  • Highly organised and detail-focused, with the judgement to work independently, balance competing demands, and navigate ambiguity.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills and confidence working across multiple systems and tools.
  • Customer-focused, adaptable, and results-oriented, with the ability to build relationships across diverse clients, brokers, and colleagues.
  • Willingness to travel when required.
  • Working knowledge of Agile project management is an advantage; certification is preferred. French or Portuguese language skills are also desirable.
