Job Title: Commercial Baker
Role Purpose
The Commercial Baker drives the adoption of commercial baking products and solutions, fosters customer engagement, and accelerates sales growth across both Modern Trade and General Trade channels. This is achieved through baking demonstrations, recipe development, technical support, and training. The role contributes directly to commercial growth by collaborating closely with customers, sales teams, distributors, and internal stakeholders to position Unga products and solutions as the preferred market choice.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Customer Engagement & Technical Support
- Conduct baking demonstrations, test bakes, and product application sessions for customers and prospects
- Provide technical baking support and troubleshooting to customers to improve product performance and customer satisfaction
- Train customers on proper product usage, recipe optimization, and baking techniques
- Support customers in developing new recipes and applications using Unga products
Sales & Business Development
- Support the commercial team in driving volume and revenue growth across HORECA and GT channels
- Assist in onboarding new bakery customers and expanding product penetration within existing accounts
- Support customer activations, exhibitions, roadshows, and promotional activities
- Identify customer opportunities and market trends to support category growth
Product Quality & Innovation
- Monitor product performance in the market and provide customer feedback to internal teams
- Collaborate with QA, R&D, and Production teams on product improvement initiatives
- Support new product launches and customer trials
- Ensure product consistency and adherence to quality standards during demonstrations and customer engagements
Training & Capability Development
- Conduct internal training for sales teams and merchandisers on bakery products and applications
- Develop training materials and baking guides for customers and internal teams
- Build customer capability through continuous engagement and practical support
Reporting & Market Intelligence
- Prepare reports on customer visits, demonstrations, market feedback, and competitor activities
- Track product performance and customer adoption trends
- Share actionable market intelligence with commercial and technical teams
Job Requirements
Educational Background & Experience
- Degree in Food Science, Baking Technology, Hospitality, Culinary Arts, or a related field
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in commercial baking, bakery operations, or FMCG bakery technical support
- Strong understanding of bakery ingredients, dough handling, and bakery production processes
- Experience working with HORECA customers, bakeries, or distributors is an added advantage
- Valid Driver’s License
