In 1960, the colonial government created the Special Crops Development Authority (SCDA) to promote growing of tea by Africans under the auspices of the ministry of Agriculture. After Independence , Kenya Tea Development Authority was formed through legal notice No.42 of 1964 and took over the liabilities and functions of the SCDA to promote and foster the growing of tea in small farms, which were previously said to be unviable in view of the expertise and costs required, as witnessed in the plantation sector. Since then the growing of tea by the small-scale sub-sector in Kenya has carved a niche for itself in the global tea trade. Kenya Tea Development Agency Limited was incorporated on 15th June 2000 as a private company under (CAP 486) of the laws of Kenya, becoming one of the largest private tea management agencies. Job Description

Position scope

Reporting to Head of ICT  Business Systems the successful candidate will be responsible for designing and developing relevant software systems for operational efficiency.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Design, develop and implement software for KTDA business, factories and subsidiaries;
  • Planning and delivering software platforms used across multiple products and organizational units;
  • Preparing technical analysis documentation;
  • Writing software, processes and documentation of operating manuals;
  • Analyzing business software needs as per user requests;
  • Liaising with System Testers to modify systems and ensure that that they operate reliably;
  • Ensuring adequate training for users and support personnel for systems;
  • Researching and examining current systems and consulting users on areas of concern or improvement;
  • Ensuring continuous process improvement of services through efficient working
  • Ensuring efficient execution of work processes as assigned;
  • Submitting accurate, timely and relevant reporting;
  • Ensuring effective communication and maintenance of work relationships

Qualifications/Skills/Experience

  • Bachelor of Science, ICT, or related fields;
  • Proven programming skills in relevant areas e.g. Strong programming skills in Delphi Pascal, C#, Python, PHP, ASP.NET, HTML/CSS/JAVASCRIPT.
  • Should be able to design and develop databases and code using SQL language. Proven Knowledge of databases platforms like MS-SQL, MySQL, etc..
  • Minimum four (4) years in a dynamic business entity
  • Must demonstrate high integrity and ethical practice
  • Must demonstrate ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
  • Must be a team player who is able to work cordially in teams
  • Must demonstrate ability to multitask.
  • Must demonstrate commitment to operational effectiveness
  • Should have ability to solve problems by applying relevant business knowledge
  • Must have the ability to communicate for both written and oral communication
  • Must be able to work under pressure
  • Must be a flexible person, who is willing to learn and able to work flexible hours to achieve goals
