Job Objective/ Purpose:
Provide professional and compassionate nursing services and high-quality care to patients, by ensuring their review and treatment as per the Hospital protocols, and nursing standards and practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the Clinical team to guide patients through their treatment journey, addressing underlying medical conditions and delivering care as planned.
- Administer all nursing protocols in accordance with established policies and guidelines, recording and reporting all sentinel incidents/events within 24 hours using designated tools.
- Continuously monitor, assess, and document patient conditions and responses to treatment and medication, including physical and psycho-social status, adjusting care as necessary.
- Ensure proper and effective drug administration and management in line with policies and procedures.
- Participate actively in patient admissions, receive handover reports from the outgoing nurse, and confirm that relevant consultants have explained procedures and obtained consent.
- Manage patient data and records effectively and confidentially.
- Uphold patient safety in accordance with the 6 International Patient Safety Goals (IPSGs).
- Supervise Patient Attendants according to their job descriptions.
- Maintain and enforce infection control standards as per policy, observing infection control bundles (SSI, VAP, CAUTI, CLABSI) where applicable.
- Organize the emergency trolley for readiness during resuscitation; ensure drugs and supplies are well-stocked, damaged equipment is promptly reported, and checklists are updated as needed.
- Ensure the unit’s financial viability by managing costs, securing proper pre-authorization, and maintaining complete documentation.
- Adhere to Avenue Healthcare corporate governance policies, including preventing, detecting, and reporting fraud or criminal activities, and implementing audit recommendations.
- Maintain thorough knowledge of and compliance with all Avenue Healthcare policies, procedures, and systems, especially those related to the provision of medical services such as admission and discharge, nurses’ reports, and equipment management.
Person Specification
- BSc in Nursing or Diploma in Nursing (KRCHN).
- A valid Nursing License from NCK
- Updated certification in BLS, ACLS.
- 2+ years’ experience working in a busy environment.
