Job Overview
Our client is an alcoholic beverages company with a growing portfolio of Wines and Spirits looking for a street-smart, well-connected HORECA Sales Representative to own and grow their presence across Nairobi's hotels, restaurants, bars, lounges, and clubs. This is a field-heavy role built for someone who already knows the HORECA channel inside out, has existing relationships in the trade, and knows what it takes to get a brand listed, ranged, and moving in a competitive on-trade environment. Key Responsibilities
Sales & Business Development
- Identify, develop, and maintain strong business relationships with Hotels, Restaurants, Bars, Lounges, and Clubs within your assigned Nairobi territory
- Actively sell and grow the company's portfolio of Wines and Spirits across all HORECA accounts
- Consistently achieve and exceed monthly and quarterly sales targets set by management
- Successfully introduce and launch new brands and SKUs into the HORECA market with measurable traction
- Conduct regular structured outlet visits to ensure product availability, visibility, and proper in-outlet merchandising
Account Management
- Negotiate product listings, pricing, promotional activity, and menu placements with HORECA decision-makers
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date customer records, order histories, and follow-up schedules
- Build long-term, trust-based partnerships with key accounts that drive consistent repeat business
- Handle customer queries, complaints, and feedback professionally, promptly, and with a solutions-first mindset
Promotions & Market Activation
- Plan and execute product tastings, in-outlet promotions, and brand activations in collaboration with the marketing and management team
- Educate outlet owners, managers, and bar staff on product knowledge, brand positioning, and serving recommendations
- Monitor competitor activity across the trade and feed timely, relevant market intelligence back to management
Collections & Reporting
- Follow up diligently on outstanding payments and ensure collections are made in line with company credit policies and timelines
- Prepare and submit accurate daily, weekly, and monthly sales reports to management
- Track and report on personal sales performance, stock movement patterns, and emerging customer trends
Requirements & Qualifications
- Degree or Diploma in Sales, Marketing, Business Administration, or a related field
- Minimum 2 to 3 years of proven field sales experience in the distribution of Alcoholic Beverages specifically Wines and Spirits
- Strong, demonstrated experience operating within the HORECA channel in Nairobi is non-negotiable
- Proven track record of successfully launching and promoting new alcohol brands in the on-trade market
- An existing network of HORECA contacts and decision-makers across Nairobi is a significant advantage
- Strong negotiation, communication, and relationship management skills
- Fluent in spoken and written English with the ability to communicate professionally with clients via email and in person
- Self-motivated, highly target-driven, and comfortable working independently in a demanding field sales environment
