Job Objective/Purpose
The cardiovascular nurse will provide comprehensive care to patients with cardiovascular diseases, assisting in prevention, assessment, diagnosis, and management of heart-related conditions. They will work closely with cardiologists and other healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality patient care.
Key Responsibilities
- Patient Assessment: Conduct thorough assessments, including history-taking and physical examinations, to identify cardiovascular issues.
- Hemodynamic and cardiac monitoring: Expertly monitoring blood pressure (invasive and non-invasive), interpreting ECG rhythms and recognizing arrythmias.
- Care Plans: Develop and implement individualized care plans based on patients’ needs and diagnoses.
- Medication Administration: Administer medications as prescribed, educating patients about their medications and potential side effects.
- Patient Education: Provide education to patients and families about heart health, lifestyle modifications, and disease management.
- Collaboration: Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care and ensure effective communication.
- Emergency Response: Respond to cardiac emergencies, performing CPR and using advanced life support techniques when necessary.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, documenting assessments, interventions, and outcomes.
- Procedure Assistance: Scrubbing, circulating and monitoring during diagnostic and interventional procedures.
Person Specification
- Valid BLS and ACLS Certification.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing/ Diploma in Community Health Nursing (KRCHN)
- At least 3 years working experience in Cath-lab post basic qualification
- Registration with the Nursing Council of Kenya
- Valid practicing license with the Nursing Council Certification in cardiovascular nursing from a high-volume cardiac centre is preferred.
