Job Description
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Business Growth & Strategy
- Set the direction for the solar business and drive growth in target markets
- Identify and develop new opportunities across commercial, industrial, and large-scale solar projects
- Build strong relationships with clients, partners, investors, and key industry players
- Represent the company in high-level technical and commercial discussions
Commercial & Financial Leadership
- Take responsibility for the financial performance of the solar business
- Review and guide financial models to ensure projects are technically sound and financially viable
- Lead and support negotiations of Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) and other key commercial contracts
- Ensure projects meet required returns while maintaining quality and long-term performance
Technical Oversight
- Oversee solar projects from early feasibility through design, construction, and commissioning
- Ensure all systems meet engineering standards, safety requirements, and grid connection rules
- Guide decisions on system design, equipment selection, and performance expectations
- Continuously look for ways to improve system efficiency, reduce costs, and apply industry best practices
Project & Delivery Governance
- Act as a senior technical lead or Owner’s Engineer on key projects when required
- Monitor project schedules, budgets, and risks to ensure successful delivery
- Support clients with permits, approvals, and grid connection processes
- Work closely with engineering, procurement, finance, legal, and operations teams to keep projects on track
Team Coaching & Frontline Engagement
- Work closely with the solar business development and sales teams to develop technical-commercial capability and confidence
- Provide hands-on support in structuring complex deals, reviewing proposals, and engaging in key client discussions
- Mentor team members in understanding solar system design fundamentals, financial modeling basics, and solution selling in the renewable energy space
- Join selected client meetings, site visits, and technical presentations to strengthen deal quality and accelerate team learning
- Build internal playbooks, tools, and knowledge resources that raise the overall technical and commercial maturity of the team
Qualifications & Experience
- Degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, or a related technical field
- At least 10 years of experience in the solar or renewable energy sector
- Proven experience delivering medium to large-scale solar projects
- Experience with financial modeling, project structuring, and PPA negotiations
- Good understanding of grid connection requirements, permits, and regulatory processes
