Job Description
In this position, you will:
- Develop and execute procurement strategies aligned with Inchcape’s regional business objectives.
- Lead supplier sourcing, negotiations, and contract management across Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania.
- Build and maintain strong supplier and vendor relationships to ensure quality, efficiency, and compliance.
- Drive adherence to procurement policies, ethical sourcing standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Oversee end-to-end logistics for local, regional, and overseas procurement, including imports, shipments, and cross-border movements.
- Manage overseas orders by coordinating with international suppliers, freight forwarders, clearing agents, and shipping lines.
- Ensure timely customs clearance, documentation accuracy (shipping documents, invoices, packing lists), and compliance with import/export regulations.
- Optimize freight, warehousing, and distribution costs while maintaining service levels across the three markets.
- Monitor lead times, shipment tracking, and delivery performance to support business continuity.
- Manage procurement and logistics budgets, track spend, and deliver measurable cost-saving initiatives.
- Analyze procurement and logistics data to identify risks, opportunities, and efficiency improvements.
- Champion continuous improvement, automation, and digital transformation in procurement and logistics processes.
- Leverage ERP and procurement systems to improve visibility, control, and reporting.
About You
To be successful in this role, you would need:
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Procurement, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Professional certification (e.g., CIPS) preferred; a master’s degree is an advantage.
- 6+ years’ experience in procurement and supply chain roles, with 3+ years in leadership capacity.
- Proven experience managing logistics, imports, and overseas suppliers.
- Strong negotiation, contract management, analytical, and stakeholder management skills.
- Proficiency in ERP/procurement systems (SAP experience is a plus).
- High integrity, strong governance awareness, and excellent communication skills.
