Job Description
Key Responsibilities
- Propagate trees, grasses and ornamental plants through seed collection, cuttings, and other vegetative methods
- Maintain nursery stock through watering, weeding, potting, pruning, and pest control
- Monitor plant health, growth rates, and survival within the nursery
- Prepare plants for dispatch to project or conservation sites
- Maintain nursery infrastructure, tools, and irrigation systems
- Keep accurate nursery records including species, quantities, and growth stages
- Support environmental and landscaping teams with plant supply planning
- Innovate and come up with ways to mechanize nursery operations
- Work with City Manager and Head of Procurement to commercialise the Tatu City nursery
- Ensure nursery practices comply with environmental and sustainability standards
Requirements
Skills and Experience
- Degree or Diploma in forestry, horticulture, nursery management, or related field
- Experience working in a tree and ornamental plants nursery
- Knowledge of indigenous tree and ornamental plants species and propagation techniques
- Attention to detail and strong plant care skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
