Job Description
The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in B2B sales, a deep understanding of international trade, and a strong network within the steel or industrial sectors in South Africa. This role is responsible for the entire sales cycle, from initial technical consultation and solution design to after-sales support and long-term client relationship management.
Key Responsibilities.
- Identify and develop new business opportunities for industrial machinery and automation solutions. Proactively visit existing and potential clients throughout the region to understand their technical requirements and business challenges.
- Act as the primary technical advisor, addressing all client inquiries related to product specifications, applications, integration, and logistical capabilities.
- Prepare and present detailed technical quotations and proposals that align with client needs and company profitability targets.
- Serve as the key liaison between clients and internal production/logistics teams. Proactively monitor order progress and shipping status to ensure timely delivery, managing any cross-border trade challenges.
- Manage the sales process through to completion, including follow-up on payments for shipped goods in collaboration with the finance department.
- Provide exceptional after-sales service to ensure customer satisfaction and loyalty. Act as the first point of contact for investigating and resolving any technical or quality-related claims.
- Achieve or exceed monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets. Provide regular sales reports, forecasts, and market intelligence to management.
Key Qualifications.
- Proven experience in a Technical Sales, Application Engineering, or Field Sales role, preferably within the steel industry, construction, automation, or related engineering sectors.
- Demonstrated experience and a strong network within the South African market.
- Strong technical aptitude with the ability to understand and explain complex engineering products and processes.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and presentation skills, with a demonstrated ability to build long-term client relationships and close deals.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial) or a related technical field is essential.
