Job Description
Job purpose:
- The jobholder is responsible for implementing the IT System strategic plans and designing specifications aimed at the computerisation and networking of all functions, activities and processes in order to enhance organisational effectiveness.
Key duties and responsibilities:
- Implement the systems security management and ensure all components of the system are optimally configured to avoid any bottlenecks and downtime of operations
- Implement the review of systems and technical support on all applications; hardware, software, solar and network issues and make reports on any area needing urgent attention
- Participate in backups and restorations activities in relation to antivirus and general information backup to ensure protection of information
- Carry out regular testing and evaluation on both hardware systems and software programmes existing to determine their effectiveness, reliability and compatibility
- Implement risk on information assets and ensure vulnerability identification, management of system security breaches and business continuity planning is done in a quick manner
- Carry out extensive research in light of the ICT field and ensure adaption of relevant trends in the field that will be beneficial to LITES
- Maintain information technology systems, repair and maintain hardware systems to avoid minimal to no disruption of services
- Monitor all installed systems and infrastructure and prepare weekly status reports for management decision making
- Test and maintain operating systems, application software and system management tools and ensure they are running optimally
- Proactively carry out random system tests to ensure the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability
- Test application performance for potential bottlenecks, identify possible solutions, and work with developers to implement those fixes
- Perform any other duties as may be assigned from time to time
- Knowledge, experience and qualifications required
Academic & Professional Qualifications/Memberships to professional bodies:
- Bachelor's’ Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration or related field from a recognised institution
Experience Required:
- At least 4 years relevant experience in a similar organisation or busy function
