Job Description

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership & Business Direction

Lead the development, execution, and continuous review of the company’s strategy with a strong focus on revenue growth, margin improvement, and market expansion, including crop solutions.

Translate strategic priorities into clear commercial plans, operating budgets, and measurable KPIs across all business units.

Continuously analyse market trends, customer needs, competitive dynamics, and emerging risks to identify commercial opportunities and growth levers.

Drive business expansion, portfolio diversification, and strategic partnerships that deliver measurable commercial returns.

Ensure full alignment between departmental objectives and overall business and commercial strategy.

Operational Excellence & Organisational Performance

Oversee day-to-day operations to ensure efficient, cost-effective, and high-quality delivery of products and services.

Establish and enforce operational policies, SOPs, and performance frameworks that support scalability, profitability, and consistent execution.

Track operational and commercial performance, ensuring timely corrective action where targets are not met.

Promote cross-functional collaboration to enable faster decision-making and improved commercial outcomes.

Embed a culture of performance discipline, accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.

Financial Management & Business Sustainability

Assume overall accountability for financial performance, including revenue growth, profitability, budgeting, forecasting, and cost control.

Review and approve financial statements, management accounts, and investment proposals with a strong focus on return on investment (ROI).

Ensure effective cash-flow management, optimal liquidity, and compliance with statutory and audit requirements.

Strengthen financial controls and drive efficient utilisation of resources to support business growth.

Balance short-term commercial results with long-term sustainability and risk management.

People Leadership, Culture & Organisational Development

Lead and motivate senior management to deliver agreed commercial and operational targets.

Build a high-performance culture grounded in accountability, ownership of results, and customer focus.

Oversee talent development, succession planning, and capability building aligned to current and future business needs.

  • Ensure full compliance with all legal, regulatory, and statutory requirements.

  • Ensure timely resolution of audit findings and implementation of recommendations.
  • Uphold the highest standards of ethics, transparency, and accountability.
  • Board Engagement & Reporting
  • Serve as the primary link between the Board and management, providing clear visibility on commercial and financial performance.
  • Prepare and present comprehensive reports covering strategy execution, revenue performance, profitability, risks, and forecasts.
  • Implement Board-approved strategies and ensure delivery of agreed commercial objectives.
  • Provide the Board with insights and recommendations on growth opportunities and strategic investments.
  • Stakeholder, Government & External Relations
  • Represent the organisation in strategic and commercial engagements with key stakeholders.
  • Build strong relationships with customers, suppliers, regulators, partners, and industry bodies to support market growth.
  • Strengthen brand visibility, market presence, and commercial credibility.
  • Maintain effective engagement with government and regulatory institutions.
  • Business Development, Sales Leadership & Market Growth
  • Provide overall leadership and strategic direction to sales and commercial teams to achieve revenue, margin, and market share targets.
  • Drive growth of both animal health and crop solutions through effective go-to-market strategies, pricing, and channel management.
  • Approve and oversee commercial strategies, sales plans, and marketing initiatives.
  • Support key customer relationships, major negotiations, and strategic contracts.
  • Champion customer-centric solutions that drive retention, loyalty, and long-term revenue growth.
  • Asset Management & Resource Optimisation
  • Ensure effective management and utilisation of company assets to support commercial operations.
  • Oversee procurement, inventory, and resource allocation to optimise working capital and reduce costs.
  • Ensure capital investments are aligned with strategic and commercial priorities and deliver value.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Animal Health Production, Veterinary Medicine, Livestock Production, Agribusiness, Crop Science, or a related field.
  • Master’s degree (MBA or equivalent) is highly desirable.
  • 10–15 years of progressive leadership experience, with at least 5 years in a senior executive role with direct commercial and P&L responsibility.
  • Demonstrated success in driving revenue growth, profitability, and market expansion within animal health, crop solutions, agribusiness, or related sectors.
  • Strong understanding of agricultural value chains, regulatory environments, and commercial distribution models.
  • Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and deliver results in complex, competitive markets.
