Job Description
- The Privacy Officer plays a vital role in fostering a strong culture of privacy and safeguarding personal data across the organization. Sitting within the Privacy and Security department, you will support the Legal Manager – Privacy, AI, DPO in ensuring Tiko remains fully compliant with applicable privacy laws. You will have autonomy to work independently while collaborating closely with teams across the organization to identify privacy risks and implement effective mitigations.
Responsibilities:
- Assisting in implementing and maintaining Tiko’s privacy compliance framework
- Supporting the handling of Data Subject Requests
- Conducting Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs)
- Reviewing and updating the Record of Processing Activities (ROPA)
- Supporting investigations related to data breaches
- Organising and maintaining privacy documentation in G-Suite
- Collaborating with departments to ensure organization-wide privacy compliance
- Assisting with training sessions for employees, service providers, and CBOs
- Drafting Privacy Notices and Privacy Agreements
- Acting as the point of contact for privacy matters when the Legal Manager is unavailable
- Support colleagues across various projects as needed and provide troubleshooting assistance to ensure smooth and compliant operations

Requirements
- A minimum of 2–3 years of experience in privacy, data protection, compliance, or related legal/tech fields
- Practical experience with privacy laws (e.g., GDPR, NDPR or equivalent African/ international privacy regulations)
- Experience conducting PIAs and supporting privacy compliance programmes
- Strong analytical and organizational skills, with an ability to work independently
- Excellent communication skills and comfort engaging multiple stakeholders
- Experience with drafting privacy documentation (policies, notices, agreements)
- Demonstrated ability to train or support others on privacy-related topics
- Familiarity with data breach response processes and privacy risk assessments
