Job Description

What you will be doing

Technical Development

  • Architect and develop scalable solutions for Africa's largest e-commerce platform
  • Lead tech stack evolution from legacy to modern architectures
  • Drive innovation in payment systems, logistics platforms, and customer-facing applications
  • Implement and maintain high-performance systems
  • Champion clean code and quality practices
  • Ensure a security-first approach in all developments

Leadership

  • Mentor junior developers and shape technical best practices
  • Drive consensus across multi-disciplinary teams
  • Balance legacy maintenance with new development
  • Lead code reviews and technical discussions
  • Promote best practices across teams

Project Management

  • Deliver successful technical projects
  • Work within Agile/Scrum environments
  • Manage system stability while driving innovation
  • Demonstrate ownership of technical outcomes
  • Facilitate cross-team collaboration

What we are looking for

Technical Skills

  • 8+ years of PHP development experience
  • Expert knowledge of modern frameworks (Zend Expressive, Laravel, Symfony)
  • Advanced database skills (MySQL optimization, NoSQL)
  • Experience with high-transaction platforms

Proficiency in:

  • Message queuing (Kafka)
  • Caching (Redis)
  • Microservices architecture
  • CI/CD pipelines
  • System monitoring
  • Git version control
  • Understanding of front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript)

Architecture & Design

  • Proven experience with design patterns
  • Expertise in architectural principles
  • Knowledge of SOA and microservices
  • Understanding of scalable system design
  • Experience with system monitoring and optimization

Other Skills

  • Fluent English communication
  • Strong analytical capabilities
  • Ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
  • Experience in Agile/Scrum environments
  • Problem-solving expertise
  • A track record of successful project delivery
