WCK offers various programmes that include: Mobile Education Unit, Ecology Programmes Youth and Communities based Wildlife and Environmental conservation projects, ESD- Education & Trainings for Sustainable Development, WCK College (CTTR)- Centre for Tourism Training & Research, Publication of Wildlife and Environmental conservation resource materials, the Komba Magazine and Wildlife Resources Centres -Hostels and Accommodation Facilities. WCK is present in six (6) regions within the country i.e Mombasa, Kisumu, Nakuru, Meru, Kitui and Nairobi.
Job Description
  • WCK is seeking a Procurement Officer to support its commitment to transparent, efficient, and compliant procurement and operations processes that drive organizational excellence. Join us and be part of a team making a lasting impact on conservation and education in Kenya

Purpose of the Job

  • The position is responsible for executing and coordinating the full procurement cycle in compliance with the PPADA, IFMIS, e-GP systems, donor requirements, and internal policies. The Procurement Officer ensures transparency, accountability, and value for money while enhancing supply chain efficiency and costeffectiveness across the organization.

Key Functions and Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and implement the organization’s annual and project-based procurement plans in consultation with Heads of Departments (HoDs), ensuring alignment with approved budgets, timelines, donor requirements, and organizational priorities.
  • Manage the full procurement cycle including needs assessment, supplier prequalification, tendering, evaluation, contract award, documentation, and contract management in compliance with the Public
  • Procurement and Asset Disposal Act (PPADA), IFMIS, e-GP, donor procurement regulations, and internal policies.
  • Provide technical guidance and advisory support to project and departmental teams on compliant procurement practices, ensuring adherence to legal frameworks, donor rules, and value for money principles.
  • Source, evaluate, and recommend suppliers and service providers based on quality, cost effectiveness, ethical standards, reliability, and compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Prepare, review, and issue procurement documentation including requests for quotations, purchase orders, and contracts ensuring accuracy, transparency, and proper recordkeeping.
  • Maintain and update the supplier and service provider database and pricing schedules.
  • Monitor supplier and ensure that goods, works, and services are delivered in accordance with contract specifications, timelines, and quality standards.
  • Enforce compliance with procurement and financial controls, mitigating operational risks and promoting transparency and accountability.
  • Provide support and coordination to the Operations Manager in preparing and submitting periodic procurement and compliance reports, ensuring timely documentation and responses during internal and external
  • Support and coordinate with the Operations Manager in tracking procurement activities and maintaining accurate records and data for tagging, insurance, and audit verification.
  • Assist the Operations Manager in enhancing operational efficiency through sound inventory, safety, and security management, ensuring compliance with procurement, audit requirements.
  • Support the Operations Manager in managing service provider contracts, ensuring proper documentation, adherence to procurement policies, and cost-effective delivery of services.

Job Requirements / Qualifications

  • Minimum of a Diploma in Supply Chain Management, Procurement and Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field
  • Professional certifications such as Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP), Certified
  • Procurement and Supply Professional (CPSP), or Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (CIPS).
  • Degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or a related field is an added advantage.
  • A full member with a valid practicing license from the Kenya Institute of Supplies Management (KISM).
  • Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in procurement and logistics operations, preferably within a public institution, donor-funded, or educational environment.
  • Strong leadership, supervisory, problem-solving, and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal abilities, with capacity to work effectively under pressure.
  • Proficient in asset, fleet, and inventory management, data and financial analysis (Excel, ERP, QuickBooks), and contract administration.
  • Demonstrated competence in procurement management, compliance, data-driven reporting, and stakeholder engagement.
