Job Description
Job Overview:
- At Associated Battery Manufacturers (ABM), we are powering Africa’s future through our leading portfolio of energy solutions and are the largest battery manufacturer in the region, under the Chloride Exide brand. We deliver excellence through automotive batteries and energy storage solutions.
- As part of our regional growth strategy, we are seeking a passionate and commercially savvy Export Sales Executive to drive business expansion across the African continent. This role focuses on business development and strategic sales — building partnerships with large distributors, OEMs, and institutional clients to grow ABM’s footprint in key markets across Africa.
Key Responsibilities:
- Identify, pursue, and close new business opportunities in export markets, focusing on large-scale distributors, dealers, and B2B customers.
- Develop and implement export sales and market-entry plans aligned with ABM’s regional growth strategy.
- Lead negotiations and secure high-value distribution agreements and long-term supply contracts.
- Manage, support, and monitor performance of appointed distributors to ensure achievement of sales, profitability, and brand targets.
- Conduct market research and competitor analysis to identify trends, pricing structures, and growth opportunities.
- Collaborate with internal teams — including Supply Chain, Finance, and Technical Services — to ensure timely delivery, proper documentation, and excellent customer service.
- Prepare detailed market and performance reports, including forecasts, pipeline tracking, and business reviews.
- Represent ABM at industry events, exhibitions, and trade missions across Africa to promote the brand and build strategic relationships.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, International Trade, or a related field.
- 5–6 years’ proven experience in export or regional business development, preferably within energy, automotive, solar, or FMCG sectors.
- Demonstrated success in developing and managing distributor networks across multiple African markets.
- Strong commercial acumen and negotiation skills, with the ability to close high-value deals.
- Working knowledge of export logistics, documentation, and cross-border trade.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills; fluency in English required, French or Portuguese an added advantage.
- Willingness to travel extensively within Africa.
