Job Description
Job Description
- The Business Intelligence (BI) team at d.light owns the full data and analytics stack — from raw data ingestion and transformation, through our data warehouse, to the dashboards, automations, and tools that power business strategy & decisions across the company.
- As we move into a new phase of maturity, we’re looking for a Business Intelligence Data Analyst who can bridge business understanding and technical execution. You’ll work directly with stakeholders across departments, translating business challenges into data-driven solutions, and building the datasets, dashboards and automations that make our data useful every day.
- This role is ideal for someone who enjoys variety — writing SQL one day, building a Tableau dashboard the next, and automating manual work with Python or low-code tools the day after. You’ll be joining an established BI team that values curiosity, collaboration, and ownership.
What you’ll be doing:
We’re looking for someone who can do a mix of:
- Engage with the business: Build strong relationships with teams across the company from senior leadership to agents in the field to understand how they work as well as their goals, challenges, and data/automation needs. Translate these into actionable analytics or automated solutions.
- Design and build data solutions: Use SQL (via dbt) and Python to model, clean, and transform data within our Redshift warehouse to create data models/tables that help answer important business questions.
- Create insightful dashboards: Build and maintain visualizations in Tableau that drive better decisions and visibility.
- Deliver advanced analysis and actionable insights: Dive into key business questions using SQL, Python, and data science tools & techniques to uncover trends, patterns, and opportunities. Translate complex analyses into clear, actionable insights that influence decisions, guide strategy, and help teams understand not just what is happening, but why.
- Automate repetitive work: Use Python, SQL, or low-code tools (e.g., n8n) to streamline recurring data processes or reporting tasks.
- Drive adoption and usability: Ensure the datasets, tools and dashboards you create are intuitive, documented, and well-communicated to end users.
- Collaborate, learn and train: Work closely with BI engineers and other analysts to ensure data consistency, reliability, and continuous improvement across the stack. Communicate your work both within BI and the wider organization to build analysis capacity across the organisation.
- Explore new frontiers: Support ongoing work to integrate AI and advanced analytics into the BI ecosystem.
What success looks like:
- Business teams are empowered and informed by the reports and tools you deliver.
- Your dashboards and automations save time, reduce manual work, and increase visibility.
- You take ownership of your projects — from scoping and design through delivery and feedback.
- You contribute to a culture of documentation, collaboration, and learning within the BI team.
- You’re known as a trusted partner who makes complex things clear and useful.
Requirements
You might be a strong candidate if you have/are:
- We’re aware that very strong candidates might not tick all the boxes below. We’d highly encourage you to apply If you feel you cover >60-70% of the below and a strong growth mindset and a desire to learn and grow in the role!
- Enjoy working with users to understand their challenges and build solutions that deliver value
- Strong SQL skills and experience with modern data modelling to turn raw data into business insights (dbt experience a plus). Skills ideally developed on the job or in formal study.
- Experience building beautiful interactive reports or dashboards for technical and non-technical users (Tableau preferred). Skills ideally developed on the job but an excellent portfolio would also work.
- Comfort working with Python (scripts and/or data science notebooks) or similar tools for data pipelines, in-depth analysis or automations. Skills ideally developed on the job or in formal study in a quantitative field.
- A proactive and open collaborator with an ability to engage confidently with technical or non-technical stakeholders to turn their needs into a project plan
- Strong (business) curiosity & problem solving — you ask “why” before you build; you naturally follow patterns and outliers in the data and fix problems when you find them.
- Proven to have excellent communication and documentation skills.
- A growth mindset — you’re eager to learn, improve, and take on new challenges.
- A passion for the work d.light does and the customers we serve is a must!
- Excited by a more open, start-up environment where there may not be structure (yet) and you’ll be expected to build it!
