Job Description
Responsibilities:
- Prepares consultation rooms, ensuring stocks, linen, basic equipment and stationery are available at all times
- Perform basic assessment for all patients attending the clinic and designs care which is specific and appropriate to individual needs. Assessment includes measurement of vital signs, height and weight
- Prepares patient for physician examination and acts as chaperone where necessary
- Assist the physician with clinic procedures where applicable and performs basic tests such as Glucose test and urinalysis
- Assesses patient and family education needs and provides appropriate teaching based on their needs
- Ensure safety of special populations such as paediatric, the elderly, psychiatric and patients with various forms of disabilities
- Demonstrate awareness of community resources available to patients and assist with referrals when necessary.
- Observe infection control practices and maintain a clean and safe work environment for staff and patients
- Participate in data collection and monitoring of clinic’s quality indicators
- Responsible for safe use of equipment through cleaning, storage, per shift checks of the inventory and timely reporting of nonfunctional equipment to the unit supervisor
- Participate in unit based continuing education, quality improvement projects, Clinical Care Program Certification (CCPC), audits, spot checks and skill checks.
Requirements
- RN from a recognized school of nursing or University
- Current licensure with the Nursing Council of Kenya
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Demonstrate evidence based knowledge of current practices in Medical-Surgical nursing
