DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Financial Record Management
- Maintain and update the general ledger, ensuring all financial transactions are accurately recorded.
- Prepare and post journal entries and reconciliations, including month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Monitor and manage accounts payable and receivable to ensure timely processing and cash flow management.
Inventory and Cost Accounting
- Oversee inventory valuation and reconciliation processes in line with manufacturing operations.
- Track and analyze production costs, including raw materials, labor, and overheads, to assist in pricing and profitability analysis.
- Work closely with the production and procurement teams to ensure accurate recording of inventory movements and stock levels.
Tax Compliance and Reporting
- Ensure compliance with all Kenyan tax regulations including VAT, PAYE, withholding taxes, and corporate taxes.
- Prepare and file statutory tax returns and reports accurately and on time.
- Liaise with tax authorities and external auditors during tax audits and reviews.
Financial Reporting and Analysis
- Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with accounting standards and company policies.
- Provide financial analysis and variance explanations to management to support business decisions.
- Monitor budget adherence and report discrepancies or potential risks.
Audit and Controls
- Coordinate and facilitate external audits, providing necessary documentation and explanations.
- Implement audit recommendations and ensure strong internal controls to safeguard company assets.
- Continuously improve accounting procedures and internal controls to enhance efficiency and compliance.
Cross-functional Collaboration
- Work closely with manufacturing, procurement, and sales teams to ensure financial processes support operational requirements.
- Provide financial insights and advice to department heads to improve cost efficiency and profitability.
KEY REQUIREMENT SKILLS AND QUALIFICATION
- Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- CPA qualification is mandatory.
- Minimum of 4–5 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably within the manufacturing industry.
- Strong understanding of Kenyan tax laws and regulatory requirements.
- Proven experience in inventory and cost accounting is highly desirable.
- Proficient in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- High integrity and strong attention to detail.
