Job Description
Minimum Requirements:
LLB or LLM in Law
- Minimum 10 years of relevant post-qualification experience in international legal departments
- Excellent interpersonal skills enabling you to evolve in an international and challenging environment;
- Ability to handle several tasks with pragmatism and reactivity.
- Strong team spirit and ability to collaborate cross-functionally.
- Fluent in English and know how to negotiate and draft contracts in both languages
Responsibilities
Legal Function
- Handle all legal affairs and manage legal risks of the Region with an emphasis on the review of offers and contracts
- Handle corporate matters for all Bureau Veritas legal entities within the Area
- Provide legal support for M&A and Joint-Ventures within the Area
- Handle litigation matters with the support of external lawyers when required and management of insurances matters in coordination with the Group Risk and Insurance Department
- Assist with debt collection matters
- Provide expert legal guidance to operations and senior management
Compliance Function
- Coordinate with group compliance teams to align compliance objectives, processes, and goals, ensuring consistent practices across the organization
- Support the Director of Investigations for all investigations into allegations of fraud, bribery, conflict of interest, policy violations, and other forms of misconduct that would breach BV Code of Ethics
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of compliance activities
- Provide training and guidance to staff on compliance-related matters, promoting a culture of integrity, compliance, and transparency throughout the organization
- Ensure compliance with laws and regulations (e.g.: privacy regulations and trade compliance (international sanctions & export control))
Team Management
- Recruit, develop, and retain top legal talent
- Conduct performance evaluations and professional development
- Create a collaborative and high-performance legal environment
- Mentor junior legal professionals
- Control legal department budget and resource allocation
