Job Summary
The Human Resources Officer (HRO) plays a strategic and operational role in managing Capital Group’s most valuable asset — its people. The role focuses on aligning HR strategy with business goals, strengthening performance culture, and ensuring compliance with labour laws and company policies. The HRO will lead HR operations, talent management, and employee relations while promoting an engaging, productive, and innovative workplace in a fast-paced media environment. Media experience is preferred but not mandatory. The candidate must be a registered member of the Institute of Human Resource Management (IHRM) in good standing.\
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Strategic HR Partnership
- Serve as a strategic partner between HR and business units to align HR programs with corporate objectives.
- Provide professional HR guidance to managers on workforce planning, organizational design, and employee engagement.
- Drive HR initiatives that foster positive culture, collaboration, and performance.
Talent Acquisition, Development & Retention
- Lead end-to-end recruitment, selection, and onboarding processes.
- Support workforce planning, succession management, and talent retention strategies.
- Coordinate learning and development initiatives to enhance skills and performance.
- Champion programs that strengthen employee motivation and reduce turnover.
Performance Management & Organizational Effectiveness
- Oversee performance management processes — goal setting, appraisals, and feedback.
- Provide oversight on performance tracking, engagement surveys, and KPI alignment.
- Analyse HR metrics and workforce data to inform business decisions and enhance efficiency.
Employee Relations & Compliance
- Manage employee relations issues including grievances, disciplinary processes, and conflict resolution.
- Ensure full compliance with Kenyan labour laws, occupational health and safety, and company policies.
- Maintain updated HR policies, procedures, and employee handbooks.
- Protect employee data and uphold confidentiality at all times.
HR Operations & Administration
- Maintain accurate HR records, contracts, and databases.
- Support payroll data verification, benefits management, and leave administration.
- Prepare HR reports and dashboards for management review.
- Continuously review HR systems and processes for efficiency and compliance.
Culture, Engagement & Communication
- Support internal communication, staff recognition, and team engagement programs.
- Promote employee wellness, inclusion, and CSR participation.
- Strengthen the company’s employer brand through a positive employee experience.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
- Registered member of the Institute of Human Resource Management (IHRM) in good standing – mandatory.
- Minimum of 5–7 years of progressive HR experience, ideally in a media or dynamic corporate environment.
- Proven experience in HR operations, performance management, and employee relations.
- Solid knowledge of Kenyan labour laws and HR best practices.
- Experience working with HRIS systems and HR metrics analysis.
