Job Description
Key Duties/Responsibilities:
Method Study & Process Improvement
- Analyze garment operations and establish standardized methods for each style.
- Develop operation breakdowns and motion studies to eliminate non-value-adding activities.
- Recommend improved handling methods, machine attachments, and workstation layouts.
- Implement best sewing practices to reduce fatigue and improve productivity.
Time Study & Target Setting
- Conduct time and motion studies for all operations.
- Establish Standard Minute Values (SMV) for garment styles.
- Set and monitor production targets for operators and lines based on SMV and line capacity.
- Track daily line performance against established targets.
Line Balancing & Efficiency Improvement
- Balance production lines to minimize bottlenecks and idle time.
- Coordinate with line supervisors to ensure optimal operator allocation.
- Conduct capacity and efficiency analyses to support production planning.
- Lead continuous improvement (Kaizen) activities to enhance performance.
Production Planning & Follow-Up
- Assist in planning line layouts for new styles and changeovers.
- Monitor actual production versus planned output and analyze variances.
- Provide real-time feedback to production and quality teams to meet targets.
- Support pilot runs and pre-production meetings with relevant teams.
Reporting & Documentation
Key Outputs/Deliverables/KPIs:
- Line Efficiency: ≥ 80% weekly achievement of planned output.
- SMV Accuracy: ≤ 5% variance between estimated and actual SMV (monthly).
- Operator Productivity: ≥ 95% of target pieces produced per operator per hour (weekly).
- Line Balancing Efficiency: ≥ 90% line balance achieved weekly.
- Style Changeover Time: ≤ 1 day to stabilize new styles.
- Academic and Professional Qualifications and Experience Required:

- Diploma or Degree in Industrial Engineering, Production, or Textile Technology.
- 2–5 years’ experience as an Industrial Engineer in garment manufacturing.
- Practical knowledge of line balancing, SMV calculation, and capacity study.
