Job Description

About the Client:

  • Our client, a reputable Construction company, is actively looking for a proactive Accountant to support day-to-day finance operations for our ready-mix concrete business. The ideal candidate has strong fundamentals in accounting, cost control, and statutory compliance, with practical experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Process and reconcile accounts payable/receivable, bank transactions, and general ledger entries.
  •  
  • Prepare timely monthly journals, schedules, reconciliations, and variance analyses.
  • Assist in month-end and year-end close; support preparation of management accounts.
  • Manage petty cash and cashbooks; ensure proper documentation and controls.
  • Ensure accurate costing for materials, fuel, spares, and production (cost per m³/ton).
  • Support stock and stores controls (cycle counts, reconciliations, valuation).
  • Prepare and file statutory returns (KRA VAT, PAYE, WHT, Corporation Tax), NSSF, SHIF, etc.
  • Support external and internal audits with required schedules and responses.
  • Assist procurement compliance: LPOs, three-quote reviews, GRNs, and invoice matching (3-way match).
  • Generate routine finance reports (AR aging, AP status, expense trackers, fuel/maintenance costs).

Qualifications & Experience

  • At least 5 years hands-on accounting experience (manufacturing/industrial environment is an added advantage).
  • Solid grasp of Kenyan tax and statutory compliance.
  • Proficiency in ERP/accounting systems and MS Excel (pivot tables, lookups).
  • High integrity, attention to detail, and strong organizational skills.
