Job Overview

The World Bank Group is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Environmental Specialist to join our team in Nairobi, Kenya. The successful candidate will lead and manage environmental projects, ensuring compliance with environmental standards and contributing to sustainable development outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning, execution, and monitoring of environmental projects, ensuring they meet the World Bank's standards and client expectations.
  • Provide expert advice on environmental issues, policies, and standards to internal teams and stakeholders.
  • Conduct environmental assessments and develop strategies for project implementation.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate environmental considerations into project design and implementation.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and policies, both locally and internationally.
  • Prepare and present reports, proposals, and policy recommendations to senior management and stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related field. A master's degree is preferred.
  • Proven experience in project management, particularly in the environmental sector.
  • Strong knowledge of environmental regulations, policies, and best practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Proficiency in English. Knowledge of local languages is an advantage.
