Job Description
Job Purpose:
- The Hospital Driver will be responsible for safely operating hospital vehicles to transport staff, patients, and materials, while ensuring adherence to traffic regulations, hospital policies, and proper vehicle maintenance standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Transport hospital staff, patients, and goods to designated locations in a safe and timely manner.
- Assist with loading and unloading of luggage, materials, and equipment.
- Ensure possession of a valid driving license with the correct vehicle category.
- Stay updated with and inform management about new traffic laws and compliance requirements.
- Park hospital vehicles safely in designated areas always.
- Keep vehicles clean and well-maintained through regular washing, servicing, and inspections.
- Maintain accurate vehicle records, including daily mileage and trip logs.
- Report any accidents, injuries, or vehicle damage promptly to management.
- Ensure compliance with road safety regulations and hospital policies.
- Demonstrate knowledge of local routes, traffic signs, and navigation using maps or GPS.
- Operate other hospital vehicles, including tractors, as required.
- Perform any other related duties as may be assigned by the Maintenance Manager.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Valid driving license for relevant vehicle categories.
- At least 5 years of professional driving emergency services vehicles (e.g. ambulances and fire engines)
- Emergency Medical Technician certificate course will be an added advantage
- Sound knowledge of Kenyan traffic laws and road safety regulations.
- Ability to operate and maintain different types of vehicles.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and time management skills.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work under minimal supervision.
