Job Description
Job Purpose:
- The Cook is responsible for preparing high-quality dishes, maintaining cleanliness and safety standards, practicing proper food handling, managing inventory, and providing excellent customer service in line with hospital policies and prevailing regulations.
Key Responsibilities :
- Prepare and cook a variety of dishes from scratch, ensuring high quality and consistent taste.
- Follow recipes and guidelines to maintain menu standards.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Practice proper food handling and storage techniques to ensure food safety.
- Stock and maintain kitchen inventory, and notify supervisors of shortages or quality issues.
- Work collaboratively with kitchen staff to ensure timely and accurate food delivery.
- Respond to customer requests and inquiries, including special dietary restrictions.
- Prepare large quantities of food for service, ensuring items are ready on time.
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and report malfunctions or maintenance needs.
- Minimize food waste through proper storage and ingredient utilization.
- Adapt to changing menus, customer preferences, and kitchen demands.
- Learn and apply new recipes and cooking techniques.
- Taste test dishes to ensure quality standards are met.
- Implement constructive feedback from supervisors and customers for continuous improvement.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Diploma/Certificate in Culinary Arts or related field from a recognized institution.
- Food and Beverage Certification.
- Minimum of 2 years’ relevant experience in a busy kitchen or similar setting.
- Strong knowledge of food handling, hygiene, and kitchen safety standards.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Ability to adapt quickly, work under minimal supervision, and remain self-driven.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with a customer service mindset.
- High standards of integrity, honesty, and professionalism.
- A committed Christian, passionate about service and making a positive impact.
