Job Summary

  • We seek a passionate, talented Beam saw Panel saw Operator to join our client team. 
  • The Candidate will ensure accuracy and precise cuts of wood-based panels. 
  • This role is will also ensure continuous monitoring and maintenance of saw-cutting machines, replace saw blades, and adjust machine settings as needed and loading, off-loading and moving cut parts within the workshop.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate computerised beam and panel saws to cut materials such as MDF, particle boards, chipboards, plywood, and blackboards to specified dimensions.
  • Load materials onto machines, ensuring proper alignment and secure positioning for precise cuts.
  • Offload cut parts from machines, handle them with care to avoid damage, and transport them within the workshop.
  • Move and position boards and parts efficiently to facilitate smooth workflow and organisation in the workshop.
  • Continuously monitor machine operations to detect issues and make necessary adjustments for optimal performance.
  • Inspect finished cut parts to verify their quality requirements, correct sizes and measurements, and make necessary corrections.
  • Perform regular maintenance on saw machines, replace blades and other components as needed, and adhere strictly to safety protocols to prevent accidents.
  • Record operational data, machine settings, and any issues encountered during production, ensuring clear communication with other team members and supervisors.

Skills & Experience

  • High level of integrity, unquestionable character and self-discipline.
  • At least a Certificate or Diploma in woodworking and Mechanical Engineering or related fields from a Technical College or TVET.
  • Computer literacy and proficiency in Windows operating system.
  • Ability to measure and cut materials accurately, ensuring adherence to precise specifications.
  • Knowledge of safety practices in a woodworking environment, including the use of protective gear and safe operation of cutting machinery.
  • Physical ability to handle heavy materials and stand for extended periods.
  • Proficiency in maintaining and troubleshooting machinery, with the ability to replace saw blades and adjust machine settings as needed.
  • Ability to make independent decisions and work with minimal supervision.
