Job Description
Job Objective
As part of the Engineering team assist to plan, design, recommend technologies & equipment, implement and make required changes to the core WIOCC network within budget and timelines and to the correct level of quality and performance to enable Client services, satisfaction and revenue to be maintained and to meet or improve company targets.
Reporting Line: Senior Network Architect
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Assist with network architecture, technology and vendor recommendation
- Assist with network inventory management & planning, including auditing and record management
- Assist with network procurement / equipment contract management, including budgeting, purchase order management
- Assist in managing, developing craft terminal, EMS, NMS and OSS systems
- Assist other departments and lead and report on projects as requested
- Assist with ensuring network design aligns with NetSuite as appropriate
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a technical field
Experience & Skills
- Minimum of two years relevant work experience in telecom industry including experience in service delivery, sales support, network infrastructure or operations support or similar fields
- Experience in network engineering, network design role or equivalent
- Experience of technology platforms including Fibre, ROADM/DWDM (10/40/100G), OTN, SDH, Data
- Knowledge in supporting TX equipment i.e., Tejas Networks, Ciena, Adva, Huawei etc.
- Stage, lab, test, install and bring into service equipment & follow standards
- Experience and understanding of network synchronization, performance monitoring, ITU-T standards
- Quality assurance auditing & testing, manage and mitigate network risk register
- Optical networking experience including OTDR, optical link budget calculations, fibre types and testing
- Experience in network management platforms and OSS systems
- Must use B/OSS tools effectively to record information accurately and concisely in a timely manner
- Effective written and verbal communications skills evidenced by work history and accomplishments
- Excellent communications and soft skills, including ability to listen to and summarise and concisely share key information with clients
- Demonstrate ability to manage multiple priorities and solve problems in a fast-paced environment
- Strong analytical skills and able to collate and interpret data from various sources
- Good English language communicator with a natural aptitude for dealing with people
- Excellent network diagnostic and problem-solving skills
