Job Purpose
The Surgical Stock Controller is responsible for overseeing the receipt, documentation, and monitoring of inventory levels to ensure the continuous availability of medical and surgical supplies. The role focuses on timely stock replenishment, reducing wastage from expiry or overstocking, and ensuring adherence to hospital inventory management policies.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Receive, inspect, and verify all delivered items against purchase orders and delivery notes.
Ensure all stocks received meet the required quality standards.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date stock records, both manually and/or electronically.
Monitor stock levels, usage patterns, and expiration dates to ensure availability and minimize losses.
Apply First-In-First-Out (FIFO) and First-Expiry-First-Out (FEFO) principles to reduce wastage.
Proactively initiate timely reorder requests based on consumption rates and stock thresholds.
Conduct regular physical stock counts and reconcile with recorded inventory balances.
Collaborate with user departments to ensure timely replenishment of surgical and medical supplies.
Promptly report any stock variances, slow-moving items, or identified losses.
Ensure proper storage conditions are maintained, including adherence to cold chain requirements where applicable.
Minimum Requirements/ Qualifications
Diploma in Nursing from a recognized institution.
Valid practicing license.
Training in Procurement or Stores Management is an added advantage.
Minimum 1–2 years of experience in a hospital or health-related stock management role.
Familiarity with ERP or inventory management systems.
