Job Description

As a Maua Customer Development Representative, you will be responsible for:

 

Recruiting and training a network of micro-entrepreneurs in the hardest-to-reach communities (e.g. urban slums, remote rural areas, etc.)

 

Ensuring effective coordination of Maua and development of Social, Human and Shared Financial Capitals within an ecosystem of diverse stakeholders.

 

Advocate and role-model the Five Principles with all stakeholders of the business model.

 

Collecting and encoding data to support the measurement of the Maua program.

 

What are we looking for?

 

Ideally, you will hold a University Degree in Entrepreneurship, Sustainability, Business Management or an equivalent.

 

Ideally, you will have a minimum of 5 years’ experience with a demonstrated track record in managing livelihood improvement projects within the private sector and non-governmental organizations.

 

You should be passionate about fostering economic growth and enhancing the quality of life for underserved populations. We are looking for someone who is adaptable and open to working in diverse environments, including underserved and remote areas across the country, to effectively engage with and support local communities.

 

You will need strong knowledge and experience in distribution and community outreach programs.

 

Proven people management skills are essential, as you will need to lead and inspire teams effectively.

 

Experience in managing and reporting non-financial performance metrics is important for this role.

 

Excellent oral and written communication skills are a must, with proficiency in Kiswahili required.

 

You should be comfortable working in agile business contexts or startup environments, demonstrating flexibility and innovation.

 

This role involves physical demands, so you must be prepared for activities such as driving to remote areas, standing and walking for extended periods, and engaging directly with underserved populations.

 

What will be your key responsibilities?

 

Uplifters and Hawkers

 

Identify and recruit entrepreneurs based on set criteria.

 

Ensure uplifters and hawkers are attached to a Stockpoint.

 

Conduct induction training for new entrepreneurs and distribute sales kits.

 

Monitor performance, income levels, and route compliance.

 

Address conflicts and support the formation of cooperatives.

 

Stock Points

 

Recruit Stockpoints using established criteria.

 

Attach uplifters and hawkers to Stockpoints and conduct their induction training.

 

Distribute sales kits to Stockpoints and organize learning meetings.

 

Recruitment of Partners

 

Identify and approach partners to support entrepreneurs.

 

Develop agreements and monitor partnership performance.

 

Training and Development

 

Assess training needs and develop solutions.

 

Conduct MAUA Academy trainings and organize capacity development programs.

 

Lead Local Operations

 

Liaise with distributors to ensure stock delivery to Stockpoints.

 

Monitor inventory levels and resolve stock-related issues.

 

Reporting

 

Submit recruitment and performance reports to the Maua Lead.

 

Collect market intelligence and merchandise distribution reports.

 

Monitoring and Evaluation

 

Support quarterly and annual surveys for capital attainment.

 

Share monthly human interest stories.

 

Monthly Share-Outs

 

Organize logistics for share-out sessions and invite guest speakers.

 

Entrepreneur Payments and Incentives

 

Ensure timely payment of monthly commissions and recognize high performers.

 

Business Representation

 

Represent Maua Business at local events and stakeholder meetings

 

Prepare budgets and participate in local sales meetings.
