Job Description

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Quality Monitoring & Inspection

  • Conduct daily inspections and sampling of raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods to ensure compliance with quality and safety standards.
  • Monitor production processes to ensure adherence to approved specifications and identify deviations early.
  • Ensure product traceability and documentation of test results.

Implementation of Quality Standards

  • Enforce compliance with ISO 22000, HACCP, GMP, and other relevant food safety and quality management systems.
  • Regularly review and update quality control protocols and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Ensure that proper hygiene and sanitation practices are followed throughout the production environment.

Non-Conformance Management

  • Identify and document non-conforming products or processes and initiate corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Investigate customer complaints or internal product failures, conducting root cause analysis and implementing solutions.

Audit Preparation & Support

  • Prepare and maintain documentation for both internal and external audits (regulatory and certification bodies).
  • Support the coordination of audits and inspections by regulatory authorities, customers, and certification bodies.

Process Improvement

  • Analyze quality data and process trends to identify inefficiencies, recommending and implementing process improvements.
  • Collaborate with production and technical teams to drive continuous quality improvements and reduce waste or rework.

Team Training & Development

  • Train factory and QC personnel on product specifications, inspection methods, and food safety protocols.
  • Lead toolbox talks, refresher training, and knowledge-sharing sessions on updated quality practices and standards.

Reporting & Documentation

  • Maintain accurate, real-time records of quality inspections, test results, and corrective actions taken.
  • Compile and submit periodic quality performance reports to management, highlighting key trends and KPIs.

Supplier Quality Assurance

  • Work closely with procurement and suppliers to ensure that incoming raw materials meet quality requirements.
  • Participate in supplier audits and follow up on supplier performance improvement plans when necessary.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Coordinate with the Production, Maintenance, and Warehouse teams to ensure smooth flow of quality-approved goods.
  • Participate in product development and trials to validate quality and safety parameters of new products.

Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Compliance

  • Ensure that all quality operations are conducted in accordance with occupational health and safety standards.
  • Report any unsafe practices or conditions observed during quality checks.

KEY REQUIREMENT SKILLS AND QUALIFICATION

  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Food Technology, or a related discipline
  • Minimum of 5 years proven experience in Quality Control, preferably in the FMCG sector
  • Solid knowledge of ISO 22000HACCP, and GMP standards
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated leadership and decision-making abilities
  • High attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with quality management systems (QMS)
Salary: kshs. 70,000
