Job Description
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Undertaking clinical procedures in Accident for Emergency, Wards, Clinics and Outpatient Centers.
- Initial patient management, assessing, stabilizing and determine the disposition of patients with emergent conditions consistent with medical staff policy regarding emergency and consultative call services.
- Providing care to patients in the intensive care setting in conformance with unit policies.
- Making decisions regarding immediate management and further referral of patients.
- Conducting ward rounds on daily basis.
- Enhancing evidence-based practice.
- Maintaining patient confidentiality and professional work ethic.
- Carrying out on the job training for mentorship of Senior Registrars in the specialist recognition program and Medical Officers in the clinics and wards.
- Facilitating continual medical education sessions.
- Participating in major disaster management.
- Participating in research, developing clinical protocols, and facilitating CME.
- Championing continuous quality improvement in clinical practice and service delivery.
- Advocating for patients and champion continual improvement.
- Ensuring all standards are met including quality of care, turnaround times, effective communication amongst and quality customer service amongst others.
- Participating in on-call.
- Any other duties that may be assigned from time to time.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education
- Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery
- Master of medicine in Paediatrics or other recognized board-certified equivalent qualifications
- Pediatric Advanced Lile Support (APLS) certification.
Professional Qualification
- Does not require Specialist Recognition.
Job Experience
- Previous working experience in a busy hospital.
Membership
- Valid registration and annual practice license.
- Registered with Kenya Medical practitioners and Dentist Board.
