The Rig Engineer Trainee is an entry-level position designed to provide hands-on experience in drilling operations, rig maintenance, and operational safety. The trainee will work under the supervision of experienced engineers and supervisors to gain practical knowledge of rig operations, well control, and drilling techniques. This role serves as a foundation for future career growth in drilling operations.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Participate in structured training programs covering drilling operations, safety protocols, and rig equipment.
- Assist senior engineers in monitoring and optimizing drilling processes.
- Learn about well control, pressure control systems, and drilling fluids management.
- Observe and assist in rig move preparations, equipment installation, and maintenance activities.
- Support the execution of drilling programs in compliance with industry standards and company policies.
- Help monitor drilling parameters and report deviations to supervisors.
- Adhere to all health, safety, and environmental (HSE) regulations while working on the rig.
- Participate in safety drills, risk assessments, and hazard identification processes.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
- Learn about rig equipment, including hoisting systems, mud pumps, and blowout preventers (BOPs).
- Assist in troubleshooting operational issues on the rig.
- Support routine inspections and preventive maintenance activities.
- Maintain accurate records of drilling activities, equipment status, and safety observations.
- Prepare daily reports and assist in technical documentation for drilling operations.
- Communicate effectively with rig personnel.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in petroleum, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Recent graduates or candidates with relevant internships are encouraged to apply.
KNOWLEDGE, COMPETENCIES & SKILLS REQUIRED
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work in physically demanding environments, including remote locations.
- Good teamwork and communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
