Job Description
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist pharmacists in the preparation and dispensing of medications to patients according to prescriptions.
- Provide accurate medication information to patients, ensuring they understand proper dosage, administration, and potential side effects.
- Maintain and update patient records, including medication profiles, allergies, and other health information.
- Ensure proper storage, handling, and disposal of pharmaceutical products in accordance with safety regulations.
- Assist in inventory management, including stock rotation, ordering medications, and monitoring stock levels to ensure adequate supply.
- Provide support in compounding medications, preparing intravenous (IV) solutions, and performing other specialized pharmacy duties under supervision.
- Monitor and report any medication discrepancies, errors, or potential safety concerns to senior pharmacists or healthcare providers.
- Assist with pharmacy administrative tasks such as filing, billing, and insurance processing as needed.
- Ensure the pharmacy environment is clean, organized, and compliant with all local and national healthcare regulations.
- Stay up to date with the latest industry practices, pharmaceutical developments, and regulatory changes.
KEY REQUIREMENT SKILLS AND QUALIFICATION
- Diploma or degree in pharmacy, or related field
- 3-5 years of experience as a Pharmacy Technician or within a healthcare setting
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work accurately and efficiently.
- Excellent record-keeping skills and the ability to maintain organized and up-to-date patient files.
- Strong communication skills and ability to interact professionally with patients and healthcare team members.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of pharmaceutical practices, medication management, and relevant healthcare regulations.
Salary: KShs. 40,000 - KShs. 45,000
